What I notice in Exodus 14 is that the command in verse 2 is crazy from the standpoint of military strategy. This traps the people between the desert and the sea. Why would God have them do this? The answer is the central theme of Exodus. He wants His glory on full display so that everyone will know that He is the LORD.
