What I notice in Exodus 13 is the call to trust in the wisdom of the LORD. The LORD did not lead them in the most direct efficient way. He had other purposes in mind than simply moving the people from one point to another. What can often look bad or burdensome will, according to His purpose, turn out to be a good thing.
