In Genesis 49 I notice that the blessing to Judah is the type of blessing that would ordinarily in that time and place go to the first-born. Instead, this blessing falls to Judah the repenter. Judah, as the preceding chapters of Genesis have shown, is no hero. Instead, Judah has had a change of heart.
