I notice in Genesis 39 a very different story involving the Bible's sexual ethic. I find it illuminating that Joseph calls out this sin of sex outside of marriage as a sin against God. He isn't just trying to stay out of trouble with powerful Potiphar. He doesn't want to hurt the LORD.
